WI 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors

New for 2026 is the WI 4-H Ag Ambassadors! There are so many great 4-H Ag-vocates and we want your voice to be part of our first Ag Ambassador team. Youth members and adults will work together to contribute ideas and shape our statewide programs. Members of the team will build leadership skills, meet other teens from throughout the state, and engage in opportunities to teach others. The goals for the 4-H PYD Ambassadors include:

  • Serve as leaders and role models for 4-H youth and adults
  • Advocate for agriculture
  • Work on and participate in statewide events
  • Build personal leadership and communication skills
  • Connect the county, regional, and state levels of Wisconsin 4-H

Timeline for Application Process:

  • December 15 – Applications Close in 4-H Online
  • January – Review of Applications & Reference Checks
  • February 1 – Notify Applicants of Selection Decisions

Cost to Participate

$500 – includes logo shirts; fees for lodging & meals at Spring Ambassador Team Weekend (April), Summer Academy (June), Fall Forum (November)

This program is supported financially by the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. Scholarship support is available by request.  Up to 70% may be provided in a scholarship.   For more information on these scholarships, please visit the Scholarship page on our website.

Requirements to be an Ambassador:

  • Be a youth in grades 9-12 at the time of application
  • Attend and participate in In-Person Meetings: State Leader Team Weekend (April 10-12, 2026), predetermined meetings or events of your ambassador team, and additional virtual meetings.   
  • Contribute to statewide events, including but not limited to: Summer Academy (June 11-18, 2026),  Fall Forum (November 6-8, 2026), and events specific to your ambassador team 
  • Promote Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development, communicate with and present to counties in your region and other agreed upon responsibilities 
  • Communicate regularly with Wisconsin 4-H Ambassador advisors and members 
  • Conduct yourself, at all times, in a manner that is consistent with UW-Madison Division of Extension and 4-H Youth Development Code of Conduct

Expectations of an Ambassador:

As a Wisconsin 4-H PYD Ambassador Team member, I will…

  1. attend all Wisconsin 4-H Ambassador Team meetings and events.
    • In the event that I am unable to participate in a meeting or program, I will contact the staff person or an adult who works with my team to let them know.  
  2. work cooperatively and respectfully with the youth, adult staff and volunteers of Wisconsin 4-H Positive Youth Development and the UW-Madison Division of Extension.
  3. be trustworthy and reliable in carrying out responsibilities I’ve accepted.   If you are struggling to carry out the responsibilities, reach out to your adult leaders for assistance.  
  4. look out for the safety and well-being of others; act quickly to report anything which threatens the safety and well-being of anyone and anything.
  5. act as a role model, and set a positive example as well as follow the other parts of the Wisconsin 4-H code of conduct
  6. develop and practice leadership and communication skills
  7. serve as a youth leader model in the content area and industry
  8. be an advocate for 4-H Positive Youth Development (PYD)
  9. use my voice in key statewide 4-H PYD programming
  10. explore ways to extend state experiences into our local programs
