Living the Mission

4-H Mission

4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

The mission of 4-H is to provide meaningful opportunities for all youth and adults to work together to create sustainable community change. This is accomplished within three primary content areas, or mission areas – civic engagement and leadership, healthy living, and science. These mission areas reiterate the founding purposes of Extension through agriculture (e.g., community leadership, quality of life, and technology transfer) in the context of 21st century challenges and opportunities.

In Wisconsin we have three signature areas of focus:

Experiential Learning

The Experiential Learning Program Team’s charge is to foster and support educational Sparks opportunities by providing spaces for young people to learn and grow in their interests while building life and leadership skills.

Youth Empowerment

Our Youth Empowerment programs empower young people to use their voice while working in partnership with adults to positively impact their communities.

College and/or Career Ready

Wisconsin 4-H is building a generation that is BEYOND READY. Our Career and College Readiness programs assist youth in transitioning from adolescence to adulthood with the necessary abilities, skills, and mindsets to navigate life’s opportunities and challenges.
