Grow in Your Project

Beginner

  • Identify equipment needed to weld
  • Practice safety precautions 
  • Learn the role of electrodes in welding 
  • Understand what different electrode markings mean and select the proper electrode

Intermediate

  • Join two pieces of metal:
    • Butt joints welded with groove welds and T
    • Lap joints welded with fillet welds
  • Follow welding procedures
  • Complete a welding project from the curriculum

Advanced

  • Weld in the vertical and overhead positions
  • Use high carbon, spring steel, and alloy steels
  • Use low-hydrogen electrodes
  • Practice cutting and welding with an oxyacetylene torch
