Arts Team Youth Position Description

The WI 4-H Art Team is a leadership experience for youth leaders eager to learn more about leadership in the visual arts and crafts.  As a member of the Art Team, team members plan the Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference Art Exhibit (displaying artwork of 4-H members from throughout the state and creating art to develop the theme of conference through the visual arts) as well as participate in the Youth Exhibit at the Wisconsin State Fair. Participants will have the opportunity to explore visual arts in different settings and through different educational experiences.  Team member will also help plan and lead a Youth Conference and Fall Forum Seminar; teaching and sharing different art activities that delegates can share in their local communities.


  1. Must be an enrolled 4-H member in grades 9-13 at the time of application.
  2. Must be mature and responsible.
  3. Must have strong visual arts skills.
  4. Must be able to participate in the all State Teams Planning Weekend, April 2-4, 2022.
  5. Must be able to participate in the 2022 Youth Conference, June 20-23, 2022.
  6. Possible participation at the Wisconsin State Fair (Milwaukee) July/August.

  1. Actively participate and engage in the Spring Planning Weekend Orientation and Training at Upham Woods.  Helping develop a plan for the 2022 team.
  2. Attend WI 4-H & Youth Conference.
  3. Participate in any scheduled Art Team Trainings and Meetings throughout WI 4-H & Youth Conference.
  4. Develop 4-H Youth Conference Art Exhibit and other programs to be presented to participants during conference assemblies.
  5. Maintain decorum in all university settings at all times.
  6. Provide leadership and support of WI 4-H Arts Programming in local communities.


  1. Develop leadership and life skills through the arts.
  2. Opportunity to work and share ideas with a team of youth and adults that is committed to quality.
  3. Opportunity to work in the UW-Madison campus setting.
  4. Advance skills in a wide variety of artistic disciplines.


TBD for planning and preparation, room, meals, equipment, team t-shirts and supplies. Consult with your county 4-H office about possible sharing of expenses.  Some scholarship funds will be available through the Peter Talen Arts Endowment Fund.
