Dodge County Volunteers
Ken and Ruth Lindegarde worked as a team to make the world a better place and poured their hearts, souls, and their own family into the 4-H family. Ken and Ruth didn’t just walk or talk 4-H, they lived 4-H, and made an impact with so many other aspects of their life. Working together, this team took youth development to the next level, making it a part of everyday life to serve others and cultivate a better community.
Ken and Ruth were active in the county 4-H Leaders Association, Ruth as a fundraiser and Ken within the Leaders Association as board member, vice-president, and president. Ruth worked together with people from both Dodge and Jefferson Counties to create the Dodge-Jefferson Healthier Community Partnership. This group was developed to look at ways to make a healthier community. In this partnership between Ruth and Ken, a business was developed, “High Expectations.” This business utilized both of their skills to create a youth development program that included a new 4-H club, a teen center, afterschool programs, retreats, and mentorship programs.
Both Ken and Ruth filled leadership roles for 4-H, their local church, school and in their community. These roles spanned the county, state and even the nation. Their partnership worked and leadership showed others how to work together toward a common goal. They have helped build the foundation of 4-H that created generations of influence, involvement, and commitment.
