JoAnne Maedke

Fond du Lac County 4-H Volunteer

JoAnn Maedke was a 10-year member of the Campbellsport 4-H Club, excelling in the clothing project, with many of her projects going to the State Fair. She also participated in the Wisconsin State 4-H Band. JoAnn and Bill Maedke purchased their dairy farm in 1973 and raised five children. JoAnn took up the responsibility of the farm records and taxes, taking classes to do so. She started working for a small accounting firm, five years later purchasing the business and growing it to 500 tax clients in 20 years. 

JoAnn was active in many agricultural organizations including Farm Bureau, Farm Wisconsin, Fond du Lac County Agri-Business Association, and a founding board member of Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin. She was a member of the National Association of Tax Preparers and has shared her skills as an accountant with many of the organizations that she belongs to. She assumed leadership roles in nearly every organization she has been a member of. JoAnn was instrumental in getting tax laws changed on the State and national levels, and  was a project and general leader for the Armstrong 4-H club for over 50 years. She encouraged youth to do their best in the projects they were taking on. She has served as treasurer for the Fond du Lac County 4-H Adult Leaders Association since 2004. 

JoAnn truly embodies the 4-H motto, “Making the best better.” She has been a role model to all she works with and completes every task she takes on with precision and dedication.
