Rock County 4-H Volunteer
Daryl has served as a Rock County 4-H leader for 38 years in numerous capacities, including chairperson for the Newark-Beloit 4-H Club, Rock County 4-H Senior Leaders Council Treasurer and Rock County 4-H Fair Photography Superintendent. He also served as a chaperone for Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference, 4-H Space Camp and Rock County 4-H Camp. In addition, he helped behind the scenes for the Rock County 4-H Show Choir, HeatWave for many years.
As treasurer of the Rock County 4-H Senior Leaders Council for more than 15 years, Daryl not only maintained the financial records and activity for the program, he also provided mentorship for his youth counterpart. In this capacity, Daryl facilitated true adult-youth partnership by teaching the youth treasurer the key skills to succeed in the role, such as how to write checks, balance a checkbook and make deposits.
Daryl has also been a pivotal volunteer for the Rock County 4-H Show Choir, HeatWave running the sound system and hauling the group’s trailer to practices and performances. While HeatWave did take a hiatus due to the pandemic, he was a major catalyst in bringing it back in 2024, guiding the re-chartering process and helping with logistics.
In addition to being a 4-H leader, Daryl is also a veteran, a retired technical education teacher and a proud and supportive parent, grandfather and great-grandfather.
