Youth-Adult Partnerships: A Training Manual is a program guide with activities and resources on how youth and adults can work effectively from a 4-H lens. It includes information about assessments, training materials, stages of a youth-adult partnership, working with differences, visions for partnerships, and teamwork.

Activities require adult or youth leader facilitation.

Audience: Grades 6-12

Recommendation

The strengths of this resource are:

  • it helps develop partnership skills
  • it is accessible, requiring no/few materials
  • instructions are very clear
  • the activities are interactive
  • the activities are adaptable based on one’s training goals

Users should note that:

  • the resource is not directly related to youth civic engagement
  • the resource is less accessible to people with reading disabilities
  • it doesn’t include images to explain the activities
  • activities are designed for larger groups
  • most activities require a longer time commitment of 45 to 60 minutes

The resource could be adapted by:

  • adjusting font size, illustrating activities, and translating into additional languages for accessibility
  • modifying activities to work for smaller groups

We recommend the following parts of this resource for Youth in Governance programming:
