Ages and Stages of Youth Development

As we plan activities and programs for youth, it is important to consider the developmental ages and stages of the participants. 4-H leaders must plan activities that meet participants where they are physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.  This 3-page handout lists the characteristics of the development in youth at each of the different ages and stages. It also provides ideas of how this impacts their learning so volunteers can plan for the needs of the group.
