This 5-activity series helps youth explore the physics of flight. These activities, from rockets to helicopters, are fun and hands-on as they encourage creative problem-solving.

• From Nose to Tail—Identify the functions of the basic parts of an airplane
• Family Flyers—Design, build, and test fly paper airplanes
• Rockets Away!—Construct and test fly a drinking straw rocket
• Rippin’ Rockets—Build a drinking straw and balloon rocket
• Round and Round—Make and test fly a paper helicopter

Audience: Grade 4; can be enhanced or simplified to fit most age groups

Time: About 25-30 minutes.
