About 40 youth and adults gathered to celebrate National 4-H Week and launch a new year of learning and leadership in Fond du Lac County. The annual fall kick-off is a tradition where club leaders, youth officers, and new members come together to connect, plan, and ask questions about the year ahead. A youth-adult planning committee organizes the evening, from refreshments and theme to guest speakers and activities.
This year’s event featured a mix of community service and hands-on fun. Participants collected donations for the St. Katherine Drexel Shelter as part of a statewide 4-H service project. Additional funds from the state initiative helped purchase more items to support the shelter.
Youth and adults also created interactive project stations, giving attendees a chance to explore new skills. After enjoying snacks and icebreakers, participants rotated through stations including:
- Bracelet-making and button-making
- Care package card creation
- Tie-dye 4-H washcloths
- Paper airplanes and origami
The evening wrapped up with a Q&A session for new families, while club officers and leaders completed their annual charters. It was a night of connection, creativity, and community spirit — setting the tone for an exciting 4-H year ahead.
Special thanks to our amazing planning committee:
