Wisconsin 4-H launches Military Club for youth with deployed parents or guardians

Enrollment for the new Wisconsin 4-H Military Club opened Sept. 15!  Chartered out of Brown County, the unique club is composed of youth who have at least one parent or guardian who is currently deployed. These families may participate in a traditional community club in their home counties as well.

Youth with a deployed parent need additional positive support so they don’t just “get through” the deployment — they grow through it, developing resilience and strong relationships along the way. The Wisconsin 4-H Military Club will be a new way for them to connect with other youth going through similar situations, and 4-H will add more positive support they may need.

The first Wisconsin 4-H Military Club meeting is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, at the STEM Innovation Center on the UW-Green Bay Campus. This is also the day before National Day of the Deployed – observed on October 26 each year to recognize and support U.S. military members serving away from home and their families. The day was established to provide a way for communities to show appreciation for the service and sacrifices of deployed troops and to offer support to the families who also endure the challenges of separation.

Families who are interested in joining the Wisconsin 4-H Military Club can reach out to the educator in their county. Find your county educator at this link.
