Annual Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Contest kicks off

It’s that time of the year, Wisconsin 4-H! Entries for the Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Creation Contest are being accepted through Nov. 15! The grand prize-winning club gets an ice cream party and an award of $500.

All Wisconsin 4-H clubs are eligible to submit their ideas for a new ice cream flavor, along with a flavor description and fun flavor name. For contest information, rules, and the entry form, please visit: https://cedarcresticecream.com/4H-Flavor-Contest/

Last year’s winners, Sunnyside Climber 4-H Club, in Plover, Portage County, created the flavor Demo Derby, which features chocolate ice cream dented with chocolate cookie crumbles, smashed M&M’s, and swirled with chocolate fudge. Demo Derby has been available in stores and ice cream parlors since August.

Some past winning flavors were so popular among ice cream lovers that they became a part of Cedar Crest’s scoop shop flavor line up. This includes Wisconsin Campfire S’mores, created by Springbrook 4-H Club of New Richmond, and Haystack, created by Knellsville 4-H Club of Ozaukee County.

Entries are judged by a panel of ice cream experts chosen by Cedar Crest. The family-owned company based in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, manufactures more than 80 flavors of ice cream, along with frozen custard, sherbet, and sorbet, at its Manitowoc plant. Cedar Crest distributes products in several Midwest states and beyond.
