Welcome Amy Boelk to Wisconsin 4-H & Portage County!

My name is Amy Boelk, and I am excited to introduce myself as the newest member of the Portage County Extension Office and Portage County 4-H team.  I am thrilled to have the pleasure of joining this incredible community of passionate professionals, volunteers, parents, and 4-H youth.

I grew up in Marathon, WI and went on to live in several other Midwest locations as well as abroad, living for several years in Austria, Europe before moving back to Central Wisconsin.  I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from UW-Eau Claire, a Master’s degree in Experiential Education from UW-La Crosse and have an extensive background in youth development, volunteer management, program administration, and community engagement.

I currently live near Amherst, WI with my husband Alan and daughter Nora (a Nelsonville Zippy Zee!) with our schnauzer, two cats, and menagerie of goats, ducks, geese and chickens.  When not busy with barn chores, home renovations or gardening- our family loves camping, hiking, backpacking and biking.

In stepping into this role, I look forward to innovating & growing the Portage County 4-H Program and will be reaching out to many folks within the extension office, 4-H world and our broader community to determine what our county-wide needs are so that our programs can best serve you!

I am truly looking forward to getting to know everyone, continuing to hold and build our county’s 4-H legacy and to join in the outstanding work already being done here.  If you ever have any questions, ideas, or just want to chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help and can be reached at amy.boelk@wisc.edu

Sincerely,
Amy Boelk
