Marquette County 4-H partnering with Quilt Guild for Quilt Camp!

Looking for new opportunities to partner and provide programming to the 4-H members of Marquette County has increased capacity to bring back Quilt Camp! 4-H members and their caring adult are participating in 3 days of skill development and learning around basic sewing and quilting. Calico Capers Quilt Guild members met with the 4-H Youth Development Educator to build a series of learning activities to introduce young people to quilting. This has also been an opportunity for caring adults to also increase their knowledge of the project so that they can be supports for the young people as they continue to work on their projects at home. Quilt campers even got to choose which projects they wanted to complete, which includes options like making pot holders, pillowcases, and/or tote bags. The level of confidence that both the 4-H members and their adult supports have shown has been incredible.

The quilt guild members have brought a plethora of knowledge, a positive learning environment, and even provided 4-H members with their very own starter sewing kit and all camp materials. The Calico Capers Quilt Guild would love to duplicate this event in other counties as well to help develop a love of quilting.
