National 4-H Week Statewide Service Project

Hello Wisconsin 4-H Club & Group Leaders,

On behalf of the Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council, we would like to invite your club to join us in a statewide service project for National 4-H Week!

National 4-H Week is October 6-12, and we would like to showcase that week in Wisconsin by encouraging 4-H clubs to participate in a service project around that time.  The Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council is excited to announce this years’ service project theme: “Make and Deliver.” As part of this statewide project, you and your club are encouraged to create meaningful service  projects to benefit your community.

Community Service is an important part of 4-H clubs and groups.  In the 4-H pledge, we pledge our “hands to larger service” and we know that 4-H clubs are carrying out these service projects throughout the year.  Our hope is that your club will be able to join this effort and consider a project in the fall to be part of our statewide service project!

With our theme of “Make and Deliver”, we want to encourage your club to make a unique impact on your community with a broad spectrum of community service acts, such as:

  • Cards
  • Blankets and pillows
  • Meal Kits
  • Knitted items
  • Plant trees
  • Nursing home visits & games
  • Dog Toys & Treats
  • Birthday party kits (supplies for party, cake mix kit)
  • First aid kits
  • Dinner/Snacks (deliver to another organization)
  • Repurposed wreaths
  • Free Library
  • And any other local projects that your club chooses!

Your club is encouraged to work as a team and make these service projects youth led, with youth voice in deciding the project, and with youth leadership in planning and carrying out the project. Once your club has selected a project, please register it at this link:  https://go.wisc.edu/n8v617.  If your club needs help selecting a project or finding reflection ideas, visit this website for more resources:  https://4h.extension.wisc.edu/opportunities/projects/community-involvement/service-learning/

Our goal during National 4-H Week is to share what 4-H is, how it helps in our community, and get more people involved.

We are planning a Zoom meeting to share more about the statewide service project.  Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 8th at 7:30 p.m..  A reminder of the Zoom will be sent closer to the event.  During the call, we’ll discuss the service project, share ways that you can promote your project, and how we’ll collect the impact of our projects across the state.

We hope your club will join us for the statewide service project – and we’ll also be planning some theme days for the week!  Let’s Ignite Our Sparks during National 4-H Week 2024!
