Wisconsin 4-H youth interested in Civic Engagement and Youth Empowerment should register for the Community Accelerator track at Ignite by 4-H this year.

Ignite by 4-H

  • Find your spark and build career and life readiness skills
  • Hands-on workshops, offsite experiences, and immersive activities
  • Choose a track to explore your passions, develop your skills, and explore meaningful career pathways
  • Experience the best of Washington, D.C. museums, monuments, and cultural experiences

Community Accelerators

  • Explore social entrepreneurship, service learning, and community-based problem solving
  • Develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges
  • Create meaningful, lasting change in your community
  • Collaborate and share ideas with other youth participants

Program Details

Application & Fees

Applications will be open August 1-27 in 4-H Online. Click the Application Link (https://27wi4hignite.4honline.com) to get started. After the application closes, staff will build the final delegation and share next steps.

The $2600 registration fees include:

  • Conference registration
  • Hotel stay the night before departure
  • Air travel to a Washington, D.C. area airport
  • Ground transportation between the airport and hotel and during the conference
  • Housing and most meals
  • T-shirt
  • Chaperones and administrative support

County offices will be invoiced in early 2027 for registration fees.

Participants should be ready to cover the following additional costs:

  • Transportation to/from Wisconsin airport
  • Any checked baggage fees
  • Airport meals
  • Any additional snacks
  • Souvenirs

Important Dates

August 1-27, 2026: Applications (including scholarship information) open in 4-H Online

October 30, 2026: Cancellation deadline (cancellations after 10/30/2026 must pay 50% of registration fees)

December 4, 2026: Code of Conduct forms due to National 4-H

January 11, 2027: High school senior workshop selection opens

January 13-22, 2027: Workshop selections open for all

February 17, 2027 @ 1 PM: Optional Ignite “Know Before You Go” Webinar

Mid-February, 2027: Required Wisconsin 4-H orientation webinar #1 (will be recorded and shared)

Early March, 2027: Required Wisconsin 4-H orientation webinar #2 (will be recorded and shared)

March 15, 2027: Check in at airport hotel in the evening

March 16, 2027: Fly to Washington, D.C.

March 17, 2027: Ignite by 4-H Begins!!

March 21, 2027: Fly back to Wisconsin

Additional Details

Adult Advisors

Interested in supporting young people on this educational experience? Review the criteria for adult advisors and apply on our Adult Advisor page. Two Positive Youth Development staff will travel with this experience, but additional support may be needed.

Accommodations

Requests may also be made during program registration. There’s no added cost to you for these services.

Many counties offer scholarships for this program. Contact your county educator for more details. State scholarships are available as well. Apply through the Ignite by 4-H application in 4-H Online.
