William “Bill” Shaw

Outagamie County 4-H Youth Development Agent

William “Bill” Shaw served as the Outagamie County 4-H Youth Development Agent from 1966-1996. Bill was instrumental to the growth and sustainability of the 4-H program during his Extension career.

One of Bill’s most significant impacts was growing a county-level resource leader program. He continued the work of his predecessor, who had started to identify adult volunteers in a given project with strong expertise who would share their knowledge and skills with club project leaders throughout the county. Within five years, Bill grew the program from seven to over twenty county 4-H resource leaders.

The leadership, organization, motivation, and support Bill gave to resource leaders truly helped the education and training of project development. The strong foundation he laid still supports a thriving resource leader program that continues to be an important project-training model in Outagamie County and throughout Wisconsin 4-H. As a retiree, Bill used his leadership skills on the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board.
