Delegates (Youth)

To apply to become an Wisconsin 4-H delegate to Costa Rica, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Romania, Argentina, or Norway in Summer 2022, download and complete all portions of this application:

              Terms and Conditions for Outbound Participants

The completed application includes:

  • Completed online application
  • Letter of Reference from your school (teacher, principal, etc.)
  • Letter of Reference from your community (4-H leader, civic leader, employer, etc.)
    • We strongly recommend using a 4-H leader or your county educator for a reference if possible. Regardless, we ask that delegates reach out to their county 4-H office during the application process so the county educator can provide appropriate support and resources.
  • Delegate Interview – after submitting the online application, we will reach out to set up a virtual interview in December
  • Program Fee of $250 (payable to University of Wisconsin Extension)
  • Program deposit (amount varies by program; payable to States 4-H International, can be mailed together with Program Fee to WI 4-H Office)
    • $2,000 for Japan 8-week, $1,500 for Japan 4-week, South
      Korea, Norway, Taiwan, Romania and $1,000 for Costa Rica
      and Argentina

States’ 4-H Global Citizen Scholarship All applicants eligible. Upload and submit with online application (due by December 1).

LEX Harold H. Brown Global Exchange Scholarship For applicants applying to travel to Japan with LEX. Due January 25.

WI 4-H International Fundraising Guide

Items due after December 1st:

  • March 15: Second payment due
    • $2,000 for Japan 8-week, $1,500 for Japan 4-week, South
      Korea, Norway, Taiwan, Romania and $1,000 for Costa Rica
      and Argentina
  • March 15: Medical Form and passport copy due
  • May 1: Remaining payment due

Adult Advisors (Chaperones)

To apply to become an Adult Advisor for a 4-H youth delegation to  Costa Rica, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Romania, Argentina, or Norway in Summer 2022, download and complete all portions of this application:

The completed application includes:

  • Completed online application form (including Chaperone Background Check disclosure )
  • Chaperone Interview (done by States’ 4-H following initial application screening)
  • Two Letters of Reference from your community
  • Confidential Statement from your 4-H Youth Development Agent
  • Partial Program Fee of $300 (payable to States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs)

Items due after December 1st:

  • Mid-Winter: Following a successful interview, States’ 4-H notifies applicants of their acceptance
  • March 15: Balance of Program Fee, Medical Form, and Passport Copy due
