Go Global with 4-H International Immersion Programs in 2022!

Are you interested in exploring all the world has to offer? If so, Wisconsin 4-H International Programs are for you! Learn about the world by immersing yourself in daily life as a member of a family in a different country. 4-H youth 12-years-old or older can apply now to join other 4-H’ers from around the U.S. to live for one month next summer in Japan, Costa Rica, South Korea, Romania, Taiwan, Argentina, or Norway!

By taking part in a homestay instead of traveling as a tourist, youth will:

  • Learn about the country’s culture from an insider’s perspective
  • Grow as a global citizen
  • Learn to adapt quickly to new situations and ways of communication
  • Develop friendships and memories to last a lifetime

One previous delegate shared, “One of my favorite parts of my exchange was learning how to make homemade tortillas with my host mother!” She also says that she gained soft skills like communication—both Spanish language and nonverbal communication skills. Another valuable part of the experience was interacting with different people, which taught her skills to make connections with others.

Wisconsin 4-H partners with States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs where preparation and safety are top priorities. Carefully selected and trained 4-H volunteers or staff Adult Advisors travel with 4-H international delegations to support youth delegates and ensure a positive experience.
